Dear classmates, I have some sad news to tell you about my cousin and
e Darlene Kovarik. Her brother George called me last night to tell
me that
Darlene had a massive stroke on Tuesday morning and passed away at
the hospital
, in Burnsville, I think.

She had a brain hernrnorage ten years ago on the operating table while doctors
re trying to clamp off an aneurysm in her brain, and had almost two years
of inten
sive therapy to try to learn to walk and talk and eat by herself,
and most of it carne back except for the talking and walking, she mostly got
ound in a wheel chair the last few years and lived in an assisted living
apartment in Burnsville next to Burnsville Center. She had breast cancer
last year a
nd had surgery and chemo and had beat the cancer. I always
dmired her courage and strength and when we were in high school, I always
ed I was as smart as she was.
